It is silky smooth, but it progressively stacks until sear release. I no longer care for the trigger on the Kahr. It's not unmanageable, but it is stouter than a Government Model in. The Kahr K40 does exhibit some snappy torque on recoil. Other people had better accuracy, but then, gun magazines usually have better results. I can keep all shots on a 5X9 index card at 10 yards. The Kahr K40 is not a match quality pistol, but it is accurate. The result is a pistol that carries the maximum amount of ammunition in the smallest space, while maintaining the lowest possible bore axis, without compromising reliability. The barrel hood is relieved to facilitate ejection from tight quarters. The feed ramp is offset, allowing the trigger to be next to it, rather than below it. It sits lower in one's hand, and the single stack magazine provides an almost straight path for chambering ammunition. The Kahr pistol incorporates six different design patents that make it unique in the world of firearms. It becomes an imminently pointable pistol, an extension of one's hand.

Insert a full magazine and grip the pistol properly, and all that changes. Until the pistol is grasped in a firing grip, it feels top heavy. The K40 utilizes polygonal rifling, and a 6 round single stack magazine. It is not a flyweight pistol like some of the polymer Kahrs that followed it. The result is a mass produced pistol that has the fit and feel of surgical precision. The Kahr is one of the first pistols that was designed on computers through CAD/CAM and 3D modeling and then produced on CNC equipment. I carried the pistol for a while, until my wife shot it. Unlike many of it's brethren, this pistol is plated in electroless nickel, making for a durable and beautiful finish. I found it at a used gun counter, and forked over $489 for it. If you can think of another catagory to list let me know.Back in 1999 I purchased this Kahr K40 as a carry gun. Also you can get wooden grips for the Kahr if you preferthe look and feel of wood. There are more add ons and holsters available for the more readily available Kahr. If you want a true DA the Rohrbaugh wins.if you want a slightly easier pull then the Kahr wins. The Kahr actually has an easier pull but the Rohrbaugh is an actual DAO pistol whereas the Kahr is not a true DAO pistol. This catagory is probably the most subjective. TRIGGER: Winner - Rohrbaugh R9s or Kahr MK9 (it depends) the Rohrbaugh has usable sights but it was designed as a point & shoot weapon. This is one catagory where they are not as far apart as you would think. I will say that the Rohrbaugh is not that bad to shoot though. It is less abusive and could easily be a weekly shooter if you so choose. The heavier and bigger Kahr is just easier to shoot. It is heavier but there are no finishes to wear off. I just prefer all stainless steel construction. 40S&W caliber (which I would recommend switching to if you decide on the Kahr).

The ones you are comparing are both 9mm but I am giving the edge to Kahr because it is available in the. The Rohrbaugh is 17oz loaded and the Kahr is 27oz loaded. Once again, neither are super heavy but since the Kahr is all steel and the Rohrbaugh has an aluminum frame the rohrbaugh pulls further ahead in the weight catagory than they did in the size catagory. I will list the issues i can think of and which I consider to be the winner in each.īoth are very small but the Kahr MK9 is almost a 1/4" thicker, 1/2" taller and a 1/2" longer than the R9s. I guess a good way to decide would be to make a comparison list and see which one wins in which department and then decide which factors are more important to you. I have shot the MK9 and the size and weight is the same and I did not even notice that much difference in recoil.

I own the MK40 and not the MK9 but they are almost identical. Do you like to shoot them weekly or do you shoot them just enough to remain familiar?Īt least with a decision like this one, no matter which one you decide upon, you win either way.
